Christmas day is a ski day! Lifts open as normal and we still run ski & snowboard lessons but, don’t be surprised if you see a few skiing Santa’s!

Christmas skiing and New Year celebrations Avoriaz 1800 – A winter snow-sure resort
Avoriaz is the highest of our Ski & Board school resorts at 1800 metres and offers great snow cover for our beginner to advanced lessons. With a PDS (Portes du Soleil) lift pass we can ski or board you to Switzerland as part of your lessons or as a family/friend tour (of up to 8 people) enjoying over 600 km of slopes.
Christmas skiing Avoriaz
At Christmas, Avoriaz is lit up by fairy lights to bring you that true Christmas spirit, seeing the horse-drawn sleighs and stunning views adds to the magical feel.
Mass is held all evening in the Church during Christmas Eve as well as a carol concert outside the Avoriaz Tourist Office. The Great Avoriaz Christmas Show will be wowing the crowds on the 25th December with a grand pyrotechnic show of lights and sounds in the resort centre. Watch the Santa Claus parade leaving town after his large distribution of gifts followed by a fireworks extravaganza.
FREE AVORIAZ CHRISTMAS SHOW: 7.00pm in the centre of the ski resort.
A big performance of music and lights after Santa Claus has emptied his huge sack of gifts and leaves Avoriaz followed by the pyrotechnic show.
GRAND PARADE OF AVORIAZ SLEIGHS: In the heart of the pedestrian resort, the sleighs of Avoriaz are illuminated for you to follow with your mulled wine and hot chocolate.

Christmas skiing in Morzine
Each year the celebrations get bigger and better. The Tourist Office hosts this free family-friendly event in the centre of Morzine – 24th – 25th December 2019 from 6.00 pm.
A feast for the eyes with a colourful parade. Last years event had characters from Morzna, flame throwers, a huge Christmas tree and torch-lit descents on the Pleney. There’s always vin chaud (as well as hot chocolate) on offer to keep the adults entertained too. Firework displays are frequent throughout the week too so, just visit the Morzine Tourist Office for the full week of events.
When spending Christmas skiing in Morzine you have so much choice..
You can visit Santa in Morzine on the 24th and then Avoriaz on the 25th. Or you can hop on the Santa tour to his Les Gets magical forest all week 22nd – 28th December. You can watch him and his elves making presents as well as storytelling.
Then there’s the Morzine Christmas market!
You’ll be spoilt for choice.. Morzine is a resort that caters for all ages and budgets you’ll find a huge amount of bars, restaurants, clubs, bands and DJs to cater for your needs well into the early hours.
For skiers and boarders staying in Morzine, we always recommend having lessons in Avoriaz this time of the year. We keep most of the team in the higher resort as it’s fully open to cover all your lesson needs. Reach the Avoriaz ski area from a choice of 3 different lifts from the Morzine area. Christmas skiing Les Gets – Santa’s second home!
Don’t believe what they tell you – Father Christmas lives in the Les Gets magical forest preparing your Christmas gifts. And when Santa is not skiing or gift wrapping, he spends his time with his helpful, loyal friends, the elves. You can visit them in the enchanted forest and see them work and play!
Included in the week’s programme are storytelling visits in the heart of his magical land, numerous other activities and surprises for the whole family from workshops with the elves.
There will also be a Christmas market, shows, local village fêtes and fairs, fireworks and the arrival of Father Christmas on the 24th December.
For clients staying in Morzine, you can jump on the Santa bus to take you to Les Gets.
To visit Father Christmas in his home is 3€ between 3 – 8 years old and 5€ from 8 years old. Free for children under 3 years old. Opening Hours: From 21st to 28th December between 9am and 9pm. For more information visit Les Gets Tourist Office.
As Les Gets is a family resort, you will have plenty to enjoy in the evening from outdoor ice skating, restaurants, bars, bands and DJ’s.
