Ski With Ease would like to apologise to all of our clients for the delays in responding to all the calls and emails we have received in the last 72 hours.
We did manage to put out Facebook and Twitter announcements only and can appreciate, not all clients are on social media platforms.
We pride our small, family run business on being professional at all times and being available when clients need us. Unfortunately, the events over the last few days were out-of-our-hands and unprecedented and we no longer had the man-power to deal with all the events unfolding.
The Prime Minister of France implemented Decree n ° 2020-259 of 15 March 2020 with immediate effect on the 14 March upon its publication in the Official Journal of the French Republic.
The various measures relating to the fight against the spread of the Covid-19 virus forbade outdoor organisations from welcoming the public from midnight 14th March with Section 2 Updated March 15th – April 15th 2020.
The decision was not ours, our activities fall under the restrictions in Article 2 of the decree catagories (R) Teaching Establishments and catagory (PA) Outdoor establishments.
As you can imagine, with 2 hours notice we were up all night trying to coordinate with clients already in resort and those that had just arrived.
The call traffic was instant and clients already in resort took priority along with organising staff for the first 24 hours. Monday, France announced they would be closing the borders by Tuesday lunchtime.
It was our decision to return to the UK before France went into full lockdown to effectively continue running the office. Our delays in responding to calls and emails were due to the large logistical challenge of organising us and our team in a very limited timeframe.
France is now on a travel lock-down and residents are in isolation at home until further notice.
The good news:
We are now back in the UK and able to work through the huge amount of emails, calls, texts and social media messages.
Our priority list is as follows:
Emails will be responded to in the order they arrived and also in the order your bookings were due to commence.
We also have to respond to clients that cancelled in the days leading up to the closures as they had family members with underlying health worries and couldn’t risk travelling.
Call Traffic, Social Media Traffic and Text Messages: the best way for us to respond to each client is via email only. We can cross-check each booking in order and not loose anyone.
Please be patient, today Thursday 19th March is the first opportunity we’ve had to start working through responses. Constant chasing will only slow the process down.
Please be aware, the decision was not that of Ski With Ease but of France’s ministerial decree resulting in other in-resort services also coming under restrictions and part of your holiday experience, including: Ski Hire, Ski Lift Opperations/Ski Passes, Flights and Holiday Accommodation and other categories that are also covered under your holiday insurance.

UPDATED INFORMATION 19TH MARCH:
For those who had lessons booked via our agency, we now understand that the FCO have issued formal advice as at the 18th of March, advising that they have judged that the level of risk to British nationals when travelling abroad is unacceptably high.
Accordingly, the Government advice for British nationals is not to leave the UK for all but essential international travel.
The Association of British Insurers have now confirmed that the FCO decision will now allow travel policyholders with cancellation or travel disruption cover in place to claim for cancelled trips that were already booked and cannot now go ahead.
In these circumstances we would urge all customers who have booked ski/snowboard lessons via us to contact their policy providers immediately and intimate a claim.
